The MSI MPG 271QRX and Alienware AW2725DF are both 27-inch-class QD-OLED monitors with 2560 × 1440 resolution and a 360Hz maximum refresh rate. For a DisplayPort gaming PC, either offers the same headline combination of size, resolution and speed. Their ports make the more useful distinction.

MSI MPG 271QRX: more than a fast panel
The MSI’s two HDMI 2.1 inputs support QHD at up to 360Hz according to MSI’s specification. Its 90W USB-C input can carry a laptop’s display signal and power, while the KVM switch can share a keyboard and mouse between sources. Those features matter if the monitor will serve several machines. RTINGS’ direct testing found excellent motion clarity but noticeable VRR flicker when frame rates change. RTINGS also notes that a firmware update corrected an input-lag problem seen with earlier firmware; check the installed version if buying older stock.

The Alienware also reaches 360Hz at QHD, but Dell specifies that rate over DisplayPort; HDMI tops out at 144Hz at the same resolution. That is fine for a DisplayPort desktop but a significant limitation if a gaming laptop can only connect over HDMI. There is no USB-C display input or laptop charging. Which one fits?
If the prices are close, the MSI’s full-speed HDMI, USB-C laptop power and KVM make it easier to use across different devices. The Alienware makes more sense when the main job is a DisplayPort gaming PC and its live price is lower. For either screen, a 360Hz refresh rate is useful only when the PC can produce very high frame rates; a console will not use the extra speed. Check the exact model number on Amazon AU because MSI’s MPG 271QRX and MAG 271QP X28 have different ports and refresh rates.
